Microsoft fires worker over weblog
Germans hit hard by Octoberfest blogging.
It appears the German federal department of health now warns about blogging.
As you can see in this promotional photo from their new truth-in-advertising campaign, the front of the package says "Blogging can be deadly" while the back says "Blogging causes substantial damage to you and people in your environment." They hope the shock value of equating weblogs to tobacco will prevent blog addiction's dangerous effects.
Germany
is keenly aware of blogging's mental health risks too. From Hamburg comes Karaokeblogging, an ergonomic program that encourages bloggers to sing, to synchronize their singing, to syndicate weblog posts they sing, and to integrate the music into their blogs. A small leap from audioblogging, karaokeblogging is shown to reduce the addictive effects of blogging, restore attention span, and improve sleep quality. Increased incidence of bodily injury is a known risk of karaokeblogging, but one which karaokebloggers willingly accept.
In a Saturday interview, psychic blogger Martin Röell said "Bloggers must lead. If we don't define public health policies and safe blogging practices for the blogosphere, regulators will step in and do it for us."
