Don't Blog: Pervs troll blogs for child pictures; Bloggers stalked.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --
Annessa Rink and Robyn Pollman began their Weblogs as a way to express their views on current events and communicate with their families but both have learned that blogging has its risks. ...But Rink and Pollman decided to curb their public comments and start separate password-protected sites for safety and security reasons.
Rink started her blog about two years ago but soon found someone looking for child porn had logged onto her site to look at photos of her 5-year-old daughter. While checking statistics on her site, she found someone had linked to her site using two words - one of them obscene - in a search engine.
'The idea of someone getting aroused by my child made me throw up,' she wrote at the time in June 2002. 'Dammit, this is wrong, and I don't know what to do.'
Pollman started her blog about three years ago but found herself being attacked for expressing her political views. She said readers also showed up several times at restaurants and movie theaters when she mentioned she was heading there.
See Parry Aftab's WiredSafety.org for suggestions on what not to blog.
Moblog saves child.
Introducing the new moblog, "People Who've Tried to Kidnap Me."
From MSNBC:
... The would-be abductor continued to follow him until the boy pulled out his cell phone and began snapping photos.
An arrest followed promptly.
